هذا هو القمر بالكسوف يتوسط الارض والشمس جانبه المضىء تجاه الشمس والمظلم تجاه الارض في احواله خارج الكسوف يحمل الوجهين وما نراه في الايام الاعتياديه الجانب المنير للقمر وفي الكسوف فرصه لرؤية الجانب المظلم للقمر حقيقة هندسية ثابته: القمر في أي لحظة في الكون يملك نصفاً مضاءً ونصفاً مظلماً في الوقت نفسه باكتماله كبدر . والكسوف هو اللحظة الوحيدة التي تنكشف فيها هذه المواجهة المباشرة: وجهه المظلم يتجه نحونا بالكامل، ووجهه المضاء يتجه ونحو الشمس بالكامل"
